What you will learn

After finishing a center block, use controlled slice movements and deliberate restoration to avoid undoing earlier work.

Before you begin

Set a clear front and upper face on your physical puzzle. If you are using the simulator, choose the appropriate cube size, then hold the same orientation before comparing moves. Review face-turn notation whenever a move symbol is unfamiliar.

01 · OBSERVE

Find the pieces or pattern

After finishing a center block, use controlled slice movements and deliberate restoration to avoid undoing earlier work.

02 · PRACTISE

Try this short exercise

Mark one solved center as a checkpoint and watch it during each move.

03 · VERIFY

Check your result

Stop after the exercise and compare your real cube with the interactive 3D cube. Check neighboring face colors, not just the face closest to you. If the outcome differs, repeat slowly from a known position.

Common mistake to avoid

Do not prioritize speed until center preservation is dependable.

Take the skill into your next solve

Apply this lesson during one deliberate practice solve. Describe what you see before moving, make only the move you intended, and check the result. Confidence with piece recognition and reliable turns matters more than repeating a long sequence quickly.
