The right-hand algorithm, R U R’ U’, is a four-turn practice sequence. Experienced cubers sometimes call it the “sexy move”; the descriptive name is more useful for beginners.
Follow the lesson
Set the cube down with a chosen front
Keeping a stable front is essential. Face names are relative to your chosen orientation.
Read R U R’ U’ aloud
Right, up, right-prime, up-prime. Prime means counterclockwise as viewed from that face.
Watch a corner move
Repeat the trigger and watch the upper-front-right corner and its neighboring edge.
Reverse the effect
The inverse of R U R’ U’ is U R U’ R’. Reverse the order and prime each turn.
Learning to invert a sequence is more valuable than simply remembering the nickname. It helps you correct mistakes and invent safe practice drills.
Practise it on a real cube
Keep your physical cube in the same orientation as the instructions. Perform each face turn slowly, stop and check the stickers, then compare with the 3D trainer. Voice lessons can guide screen-based practice; physical cube moves are confirmed by the learner rather than checked by a camera.
How to know you are ready to move on
Repeat the exercise from a fresh starting position and explain what each turn is meant to accomplish. If the result differs from the target, go back to the earliest step you can verify instead of immediately starting over. Use cube notation whenever a move symbol feels unclear.
