After completing the first two layers, ignore the yellow corners for a moment. The goal here is to orient all four yellow edges upward while holding yellow on top.
Follow the lesson
Identify the current pattern
You may see a yellow dot, an L, a straight line or already a cross. Consider only the yellow edge stickers.
Orient an L or line
For an L, hold the two yellow edges at back and left. For a line, keep the yellow line horizontal across the top face.
Apply the edge-orientation sequence
Perform F R U R’ U’ F’. Inspect the top face afterward; repeat with the correct orientation if the cross is not yet complete.
Check the four edges
The top should now display a yellow plus. Side-edge alignment is a separate task; it is normal if the side colors do not match yet.
An easy beginner mistake is counting corner stickers when identifying the top pattern. Look only at the four edge positions.
Practise it on a real cube
Keep your physical cube in the same orientation as the instructions. Perform each face turn slowly, stop and check the stickers, then compare with the 3D trainer. Voice lessons can guide screen-based practice; physical cube moves are confirmed by the learner rather than checked by a camera.
How to know you are ready to move on
Repeat the exercise from a fresh starting position and explain what each turn is meant to accomplish. If the result differs from the target, go back to the earliest step you can verify instead of immediately starting over. Use cube notation whenever a move symbol feels unclear.
